At VeloX Baseball Co., our team is built around one goal—developing high-performing, durable pitchers through proven, data-driven training. Every coach brings a strong background in baseball development, strength and conditioning, and performance analytics, allowing us to deliver a complete training experience.

We take an individualized approach with every athlete, combining hands-on coaching with objective data to guide progress. From mechanics and velocity development to strength, mobility, and arm care, our team works together to ensure each athlete is improving with purpose and direction.

Kyle Lugar

Founder / Director of Pitching Development

Kyle Lugar is the founder of VeloX Baseball Co., bringing a strong foundation of both playing and coaching experience to athlete development. He began his career at Center Line High School, earning four years on the varsity roster before signing with The College of Central Florida, where he played under legendary coaches. After his sophomore season, Kyle transferred to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the Sunshine State Conference before an injury cut his junior year short. He completed his collegiate career at Middle Georgia State University and went on to play two seasons professionally in the United Shore Professional Baseball League.

Over the past six years, Kyle has developed pitchers as both a private instructor and coach. He began as an assistant at Bloomfield High School and Rochester High School before becoming Head Coach at Cranbrook Kingswood. He currently serves as Director of Pitching Development at Macomb Community College, where he has worked alongside Taylor Gzelakowski and now-current manager Nick Caruso to help lead the program to back-to-back-to back conference championships.

Through VeloX Baseball Co., Kyle applies his experience to deliver structured, data-driven training focused on increasing velocity, refining command, and building durable, high-performing arms.

Chris Roy

Director of Strength & Performance 

Chris Roy is a strength and conditioning coach with over 15 years of experience developing athletes across a wide range of populations. He earned his undergraduate degree in Applied Exercise Science from the University of Michigan and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Applied Physiology with a concentration in Human Performance from the University of Florida.

Throughout his career, Chris has worked with everyone from youth and high school athletes to collegiate and professional competitors, as well as combat athletes, tactical personnel, and general population clients. He is the former owner and operator of a successful strength and conditioning facility, where he built a reputation for delivering results-driven, individualized training programs.

For over five years, Chris worked extensively with baseball athletes, helping countless high school players earn scholarships and advance to the collegiate level, including Division I and Division II programs. His approach blends performance-based training, movement quality, and long-term athletic development to help pitchers build durability, velocity, and resilience on the mound.

Logan Wood

Pitching Instructor

Logan Wood brings a high-level playing background and modern data-driven approach to pitcher development at VeloX. A 2020 Gatorade Player of the Year and two-time Dream Team & All-American (2019, 2020), Logan continued his career at the University of Michigan from 2020–2023, where he was part of the 2022 Big Ten Championship team.

Following his playing career, Logan expanded into performance analysis and player evaluation, working as a Data & Analytics/Scout Intern with Prep Baseball Report in 2023. He also competed at the collegiate summer level with the Royal Oak Leprechauns.

Logan is currently serving as Pitching Coach at Macomb Community College (2024–2026), where he continues to develop pitchers using a blend of on-field experience and advanced performance metrics. As a Driveline Baseball Certified coach, Logan specializes in velocity development, biomechanics, and individualized training systems designed to produce measurable results.

At VeloX, Logan plays a key role in delivering elite-level instruction, combining proven training methods with cutting-edge analytics to help athletes maximize their performance.

Strength Coach

Carson Sweet

Carson Sweet is a kinesiology major and college baseball player with experience training alongside high-level collegiate and professional athletes. He takes pride in the discipline, strength, and work ethic required to compete at a high level and has developed his training philosophy through learning from world-record powerlifters, physical therapists, strength coaches, and Driveline Baseball assistants.

Throughout his baseball career, Carson has worked with elite defensive catchers Harrison Wenson and Taylor Grzelakowski, while also developing his hitting under former Los Angeles Dodgers minor leaguer Devan Ahart. Through those experiences, he has built a reputation as a high-level defender behind the plate with the versatility to impact any lineup.

Carson has been providing catching and hitting instruction for the past three years and plans to continue developing athletes for years to come. He is passionate about youth development and emphasizes game-transferable training that directly translates to on-field performance. His coaching approach is built around providing athletes with the knowledge, confidence, and work ethic necessary to compete at an elite level.
